Getting around in Portland Oregon
Portland Oregon Neighborhoods
Inner Portland is really just a loose collection of villages.
Sure, we may all share a similar police force or garbage service, but this is no homogenized city.
The Rose City is generally described in terms of its “five quadrants” which include North, Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, and, of course, Southwest. But the diversity doesn’t end there; each pocket of each neighborhood has its own distinct flavor, making our city a veritable one stop shop. One can usually glean a bit about someone based on where they’ve chosen to dwell, and it’s a question that’s posed often.
Because Portland is so profoundly defined by its various neighborhoods and suburbs—and by extension the people who live in them—it is only natural that we begin this publication with a section devoted to Portland’s various “Villages”. The following pages highlight what makes them unique.
